Stipa Tenuissima or more commonly known as the Pony Tails, is an annual deciduous grass that reaches a height up to 2 feet. This is a gorgeous ornamental grass that adds fine texture and glimmering effect in a garden. It forms a compact clump of thread-like leaves that will sway in the slightest of the wind. Use it to add motion behind a beautiful bed or in containers. Stipa is an easy to grow plant, suitable for low maintenance gardens and borders.

Also known as the Mexican Feather or Texas Feather grass, Stipa is an annual plant that loosens its seedheads and self-sow them for next season. In spring, long and thin, thread-like leaves will emerge as bright golden-green, eventually turning to fade golden shades in autumn. It produces tall panicles of narrow bronze-golden flowers that add hairy effect to the grass. This amazing combination provides multi-season interest to Stipa grass.

Pony Tails Stipa does not demand a lot from the soil. It will thrive in dry or moist soil that is well-drained. No ornamental grass likes clogged water as their roots can get heavily damaged. Plant it in a sunny spot as it prefers warm weather. It grows healthy as seasons pass and turns drought resistance.
