'Rehbraun' is a superb variety of Switchgrass that forms a neat, upright column of blue-green foliage that begins to take on striking reddish-brown tints at the tips as the season progresses. By late summer, it is crowned with an airy, cloud-like haze of tiny, reddish-purple flower panicles that bring a soft, hazy texture to the landscape.
This ornamental grass is exceptionally tough and drought-tolerant once established, thriving in full sun and well-drained soil. It requires minimal care; simply leave the colourful foliage and airy seed heads standing to provide structure, and cut the whole plant back close to the ground just as new shoots appear.
