Panicum virgatum Northwind is a deciduous, perennial grass with tall, linear, blue leaves forming an upright clump. In late summer, plentiful sprays of tiny, pink and green flowers bloom and continue to do so until autumn, when foliage turns golden yellow and rustic orange.
Plant Panicum virgatum Northwind in moist, well-drained chalky, loamy or sandy soil in a sunny spot in the garden. Spring is the best time for pruning, removing any dead foliage and flowers. A perfect choice for adding to beds and borders or equally as great for mass planting.

Plant this tough Panicum in a location with excellent, sharp drainage, as it will rot if forced to sit in heavy, wet mud. It is incredibly unfussy about nutrients, so there is no need to add rich compost or fertilizer to the planting hole.
