Helianthemum Lawrenson's Pink is a true woody sub-shrub native to the Mediterranean. It forms a permanent, dense evergreen mound of muted grey-green foliage that aggressively sprawls outward, covering itself entirely in warm, coppery-pink or salmon-pink saucer-shaped flowers that are absolutely packed with pollen.
Wedge it into a baking hot, sun-drenched position using poor, fast-draining chalky or sandy dirt, as it thrives on arid heat and will rot if watered regularly. To stop the woody centre from becoming hopelessly bare and leggy, you must ruthlessly shear the entire mound back by half immediately after it finishes blooming.
