Produktbeschreibung
Delivering a heavy dose of dramatic, dark colour to the landscape, this variety features massive, densely packed pom-pom flowers in a rich, velvety shade of violet-purple. The blooms open sequentially from the bottom of the stalk to the top, ensuring a spectacular, prolonged display that lasts for weeks during the peak of summer. Its imposing vertical architecture makes it a brilliant anchor plant for structural garden designs, while the deep, moody colouration of the petals provides an incredible high-contrast backdrop when planted behind brightly coloured silver or yellow perennials.
To maintain the pristine appearance of its expansive basal leaves, you must be hyper-vigilant about air circulation; never crowd this plant too closely with surrounding foliage, as stagnant, humid air is the primary trigger for fungal outbreaks. If you spot raised, orange pustules on the undersides of the lower leaves, immediately remove and destroy the infected foliage, and apply a targeted copper-based fungicide to halt the spread. Once the final flower at the top of the spire fades, cut the main stalk all the way down to the base to encourage the plant to push out healthy new growth from the crown.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.

Profi-Tipp
Watch the lower foliage carefully for small orange pustules indicating fungal rust. Remove and destroy any infected leaves immediately to stop the spores from spreading upward. Applying a copper-based fungicide spray early in the growth cycle acts as a strong preventative measure for the Alcea Chater's Double Purple.
Richtig gießen
Check the soil moisture with the Alcea Chater's Double Purple every few days. Apply water only when the top inch feels completely dry to the touch. Water early in the day so any accidental splashes on the leaves evaporate quickly in the sun.
Richtig pflanzen
Select a site with excellent drainage to prevent the deep taproot from rotting. Incorporate a handful of horticultural grit into the planting hole before positioning the roots. Space this Alcea Chater's Double Purple at least two feet away from neighboring plants to ensure adequate airflow.
