Echinops Veitch's Blue is a slightly more compact, significantly darker version of the classic globe thistle. It produces deeply cut, aggressively spiky leaves with silvery undersides, topped by intense, dark electric-blue spheres that provide uncompromising structural contrast and a massive food source for local insects.
Force it to survive in the harshest, driest, fastest-draining dirt you have, as it physically demands baking heat and poor soil to keep its architectural stems rigid. Once the taproot settles after planting, completely ban the watering can from its vicinity; wet dirt will rot the crown in weeks.
